Relaxing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
We enjoy traveling, especially when invited by our dear friends, Bonnie and Charlie, to join them on a trip.
This trip took us to North Myrtle Beach located on the coast of South Carolina, USA. It was established in 1968 and has since become a desired location for tourists. North Myrtle Beach is divided into four separate areas, Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive, and Cherry Grove. We stayed in the Windy Hill section.
(Not Where We Stayed)
Our vacation spot was overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and we could walk for 9 miles on the beach in North Myrtle Beach if we chose to do so. We could also choose to play golf on one of the 120 golf courses North Myrtle Beach has to offer, or we could have gone fishing off the shores of North Myrtle Beach, known to be one of the best places to fish on the East Coast. We could have played putt-putt at one of the many putt-putt places that were available.
Our ultimate choice was to relax, eat (healthy)
Read good books, and work on our computers. We did exercise.

Everyone needs to take time to JUST relax
Our exercise for one day was to walk around “Barefoot Landing” and also take in the sights. There are many nice shops, where you can do a dinner cruise on a “steamboat,” see a show at the “Alabama Theater” or have a meal and see a show at the famous “House of Blues.”
Alabama Theater
Famous House of Blues
House of Blues is a great place for breakfast.
“Barefoot Landing” is on the Coastal Inlet Waterway. It’s a good destinations spot if you are on a yacht.
We did an afternoon trip to “Murrells Inlet,” a quaint little fishing village. The Inlet is a nature lover’s paradise. Located a few miles south of North Myrtle Beach, you will not find neon signs or high rises. You will see many majestic southern homes nestled among the tropical foliage of South Carolina. We did enjoy sitting outside eating our seafood and overlooking the eco friendly inlet.
The show we saw was at the Carolina Opry. The talent and energy of the cast was wonderful.
On one of our excursions, we took a short ride to Calabash, North Carolina and had a wonderful meal at Ella’s Restaurant.
One of life’s greatest riches is just enjoying the company of good friends.
New Friends and Old Friends
Joseph Parry
Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.
New-made friendships, like new wine,
Age will mellow and refine.
Friendships that have stood the test -
Time and change - are surely best;
Brow may wrinkle, hair grow gray,
Friendship never knows decay.
For 'mid old friends, tried and true,
Once more we our youth renew.
But old friends, alas! may die,
New friends must their place supply.
Cherish friendship in your breast-
New is good, but old is best;
Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.
