"I'm Just Waiting"
One day, several months ago, I saw our little four-year-old, Galen, sitting on the steps with a sad expression on his face. He had his little elbows on his knees and his chin propped by his hands. He looked so downcast that I asked, "What’s the matter, little guy?" To which he sighed and responded, "I'm just waiting." Since it was later in the afternoon not long before my husband was to arrive home for dinner, I assumed he was waiting for his Dad.
But to my amazement when I asked what he was waiting for, he replied with a shrug, "I'm waiting to turn 5."
I realized that many of us do the same thing in our lives, waiting for the next thing--when we could just enjoy the gift of the day.
