Treasures and Talents Tea
Celebrations are a great way to thank God for who He is and what He's done. In the fall of last year, I was praying, asking God to give me an idea that would bless and encourage the women I knew. I was amazed at His response. He made me to realize that people don't often give thanks for the ways in which they are uniquely designed by God. Therefore they don't celebrate it. They often fail to acknowledge or appreciate His creativity demonstrated in the way they have been lovingly fashioned by Him. Women, especially, often undervalue their talents, think they aren't that special, and therefore don't give thanks to God for those talents. In a similar fashion, I was also impressed to offer the women a way to identify their true treasures, which are not earthly possessions, but the relationships we have that have eternal significance. The people God has placed in our lives are our true treasures.
This concept was so strong in my heart that I planned a Treasures and Talents Tea to allow women to give thanks to God for these specific areas of our lives, and to celebrate with each other.
It was a lovely afternoon of honoring God through honoring each other. We had someone show her handmade quilts, another designer jewelry, and still others, photo scrapbooks, poetry, hand baked goods, crochet and specialty herbs from her garden. We had another woman play the guitar, one sing an original song, and another show parts of a movie she had written. Each woman shared pictures of her treasures: family, friends and parents who are important to her.
It's easy for us as women to recognize that our children's lives are a gift from God. But what about our lives? Is our life not also a gift from God? If it is, we must recognize it, be thankful for it and give it back to him and use it for His purposes.
I have shared some pictures from our Treasures and Talents Tea. I hope it inspires you to CELEBRATE in a similar way!
