Changes for the Better
Can you send out a holiday greeting card late and call it "Happy New Year" or is it too late and should you just wait until next year? This has been a major dilemma my husband and I have had several discussions on lately.
I like to go, go, go and get it done. He, on the other hand, would rather take his sweet time to do the same job that I could get done in half the time. He thinks it's too late to send out a holiday greeting card this year. I, however, want to send out a photo greeting card to all of our friends and family because it's a tradition and we do it every year.
These problems are minor like most things that married couples argue about, but in the heat of battle they seem major. I think my husband and I make a great team; however, those little things can just about drive us crazy!
Alan and I have been married almost 12 years now and WOW have we changed for the better. Through the years, God has carved off quite a few rough edges from both of us in order to make us more Christ like. Twelve years ago, I didn't realize that I needed God to take my eyes off of myself and focus more on those around me.
God has a plan for each our lives and he has given us our helpmate for a reason. Everything we endure or go through on this earth, that's God working in our lives to make us more like Him. And when you throw kids in the mix there's even more growing and stretching that we endure. Alan likes to tell our kids when we're all crowded in the bed together, "you know there was a time when it was just your mother and I." That time period seems like many moons ago; however, we wouldn't change a thing, because we wouldn't be the people that we are today without each other.
