Collections in the World of Décor
In the design world a collection is considered three or more but, but to a collector, it starts with just one. I remember when I found a particular soup tureen that I just loved and suddenly developed a certain affinity for white ceramic and ironstone tureens. I would point out my one to friends and admirers and introduce it as my new collection!
I have since acquired two others and have now officially met the standard of Interior Design!
A collection can be for different purposes. An entire room's theme can be built upon the pure form and color of a collection. Another purpose is for displaying the past generations' treasures you are now honored to possess. Both have these two things in common: they catch the eye of the beholder and they tell a story. To make the most of your own collection, remember these few tips: Similar items grouped together have the most impact. Rotate your collection: bring some out and put some away-- it shouldn't take over your room. Be selective, you don't have to buy every piece you find. Wait until you "love" it!
