Forgotten CookiesThese delicious cookies are a hit with all ages. Just be sure to FORGET them, but DON’T forget to turn the oven off!
Ingredients:
- 2 egg whites
- 2/3 cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
- Beat egg whites until foamy.
- Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and pecans)
- Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls on ungreased foil.
- Place in oven.
- TURN OFF OVEN ! ! !
- Leave cookies in closed over overnight.
- The following morning, GENTLY peel cookies off foil.
- Store in airtight container.
Yield: 24 cookies
Note: If the weather is humid, it tends to affect the results. The cookies still taste great, but they tend to break apart more easily.
