Letters at DawnI stand at the edge of this ocean
In awe of the vast world spread out beyond me
I rise with the sun and search for You there
Singing with the roaring sounds of the sea
Grasping breeze wisps my hair in rhythm
As I ponder this life I journey in
Of losses and unexpected twists and turns
Across the waves, the memories spin
The sun has shed its small sparkling flakes
Glistening white specs of light
That dance upon the water
My eyes squint as I watch that lone seagull lift into flight
Oh, how I envy it's ability to soar
Wings lifting high above everything below
Playing in the wind's currents
A seemingly effortless flow
I wonder why it is that I am still here
Standing at this ocean's edge waiting
How many times have You called me away?
I stand here with my heart aching
I approach You with my hand written letters
And my tear-stained heart
Across this expanse of land and water
My lonely cries impart
One day I will soar above these waves before me
Where all pain and sorrow will be gone
Until then, I return here each day
Lifting up to You, my letters at dawn
