Creating Memories
The fun of a party can be extended by creating a memory of the event.
For my granddaughter’s ninth birthday, my daughter planned a scrapbook party. She had it at a local tea room where she had lunch served, but this could be done just as easily in your home with light refreshments available during the scrapbooking activity.
As each girl entered, her picture was taken with the birthday girl. Then, while the girls ate lunch, Grampa took the photo card to a local one-hour processor to have the photos printed. (If this is done at home, the photos could be done on your own printer.)
Each girl had been told to bring a few favorite photos. At the party, each girl was given a small scrapbook (about 8” x 8”). Check dollar stores for good bargains on these. A variety of materials were provided for the girls to decorate their pages—colored paper, stickers, markers, edgings, scissors, tape, glue sticks, etc.
Four adults circulated to help the girls when needed.
The highlight was when the photos taken earlier were brought back and the girls could add the photo-of-the-day to their scrapbooks. This take-home favor was a lasting memory of a fun day—and will be kept longer than just a trinket!
Note: This could be adapted for a “Mothers-Day-Out” event or even for an adult women’s party.
