Ice Cream Cake This is a perfect idea for sports! My son’s Ryan and Jacob just recently won a bowling championship—so I made them a bowling-ball ice cream cake! Here’s how you can do it too-step by step!
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg. Oreos
- 1 stick of butter (melted)
- 2 or 3 half gallons of ice cream (favorite flavors)
- mini chopper
- large plastic bowl than can be put in freezer
Directions:
Crush Oreos with a mini chopper. Mix half of it with melted butter to use as a crust. Spread a thin layer in the bottom and sides of a large plastic bowl to make the outside shell of the ball. It will become a half-sphere shaped ice cream cake.
After it is spread in the bowl, place the bowl in the freezer for 15 min. to allow the shell to harden.
Place layers of ice cream with the extra crushed Oreos in between the layers. Lightly press down the ice cream and smooth each layer across the top. For this cake I first used Chocolate ice cream, then Party Cake ice cream, and finally Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice cream.
Cover the bowl and place in freezer again for 1-2 hours.
Take out of the freezer and dip bottom of bowl in another bowl that has warm water in it to loosen the bottom for about a minute. Also, use a knife to loosen around the edges. Then, flip over onto a pan or cake plate.
Decorate with whipped cream around the edges as the Oreo crust will be the exposed side and I used the whipped cream to make the designs for the bowling ball finger holes.
You are sure to make memories with this one and your kids will love it!!
