Green Pancakes and Milk
While Dr. Suess may be famous for his well-known, children’s book, Green Eggs and Ham, our kids know that on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day they will be served green pancakes and milk! Yes, even the milk is included in the festivities.
Since our daughter, Gillian’s birthday is March 17th, we always make a big deal out of it. We put a touch of green food coloring in the pancake batter and flip up some fun breakfast. Then to top it off, we drop just a bit of green food coloring into the glass of milk for a different kind of treat that they don’t get any other time of the year!
We have a cookie cutter in the shape of a shamrock, and we sometimes use it to cut the pancakes in fun shapes that look like clovers. Either way, our kids love it and enjoy the break from the norm.
Since St. Patrick is a Christian hero and used the clover to explain the Holy Trinity to the people of Ireland, we think it’s a fun way to celebrate something good and that we’d like to remember!
I hope you can try it this year for your family!
