Burst of Spring Color

Spring has burst with all its colors and after a very long winter most of us are eager to embrace their vibrancies. When it’s time for a wardrobe change, incorporating the season's pretty palate is not a problem, but sometimes we’re reluctant to make such bold statements in our home décor.

Even the dynamic duo hot pink and lime green doesn't intimidate when it’s in a wardrobe, but bring it into the home-- and well-- a vase of cut flowers will do. Beyond that and suddenly we're color shy. Sure, bold color has its place in the kid’s rooms, they're fearless like that and it's acceptable. Surely it wouldn't be appropriate for the master bedroom! Would it? Yes! It is!

Here's how to make it sophisticated for the adults:

Keep a warm base-color like cream or butter and bring in the pink and green in strategically placed blocks of color is key. Large blocks of color! This is what decides a deliberate color indulgence. Small spots of color here and there with no real purpose says, “I'm trying but I'm scared!

A must for keeping these electric colors from being juvenile is to ground the palate with black. It's a surprisingly sophisticated look that you can pull off too this spring!  Enjoy a burst of color and liven up a dull, drab room with some bright new hues!
