The ProdigalThere were tears on my pillow last night,
As I thought of our child all alone
It was our different thoughts about life,
That brought about such strife
And caused him to walk out of our home.
I’ve thought of what we had done to lose our son;
It was the angry words spoken
That caused our hearts to be broken
As our child walked out of our home.
Nothing is the same and who is to blame?
Can we undo what’s been done to bring back our son?
He now lives in despair, thinking no one would care
And he feels he can never come home.
There is crying in the midnight hour
As we ask You to come in Your power.
Your mercy, we pray, in the dawn of a new day
Please bring our child back home.
So much time has passed,
But our child is home at last.
For in faith we believed
And our heartache You relieved
When You brought our child back home.
