Sea Glass Beach
Life is so special when you find a remote place known to just a few people. Where you think you are the only one around to enjoy all the beauty, sounds and absolute quietness that can only be found in discreet destinations. Dave and I were introduced to this remote area by a friend and although we would like to return more often than we do, we can only find time to visit infrequently.
The day was glorious, warm enough for shorts. It was a beautiful, sunny day, just waiting for us to enjoy every moment of this special day with Matthew. With plastic bags in hand, we began our search for sea glass. Sea glass is glass that has been made smooth by the tumbling action of the sand and waves and then brought to shore. We mostly find shades of green, brown and opaque in our search. Red , purple and blue are more rare. To find a really large piece of glass from something like a Coke-Cola bottle will bring a shout from the finder. The glass comes from bottles, jars, plates, any glass that found its way into the water.
We really think Matthew's ulterior motive to join us was to have lunch at Stingrays on the Eastern Shore, one of his favorite places to eat.
Dave was delighted to make a purchase of a bag full of fresh Bay clams.
We drove through the quaint town of Cape Charles. You really feel as though you have stepped back in time when you drive through the town located on the Chesapeake Bay.
Matthew had the privilege of meeting the Mayor of Cape Charles, Dora Sullivan.
What a wonderful day we had. We enjoyed being with each other and we each had a time to reflect on God and the beauty of His nature that surrounded us.
