Make it a Season of Hospitality
It’s a beautiful time of year to have someone over to visit! So don’t delay! Get started now. You won’t regret it! Here’s a few suggestions to make it happen:
- Pick a Date—Get your calendar out and select a date and time that would work well for your family. Typically, giving a two-week notice to others is polite if possible.
- Decide Who to Invite—Ask the Lord who needs the encouragement or who you need encouragement from. He will always direct you and you will not be disappointed. If the first invitees you invite can’t make it work, don’t be discouraged, just have a back up plan.
- Keep it Simple—Sometime our grand ideas of gourmet meals and impressive displays will hinder our ability to execute practical plans. So keep it simple, even in the planning stages.
- Prepare in Stages—Don’t try to do everything in a day. Make lists and do as many things ahead of time as possible. Save only the last minute details for the day off. This way your time will be less stressed and more blessed!
- Follow Through—Keep your plans and look forward to it. Enjoy the conversation, laughter and warmth of your guests. Don’t fuss over the nonessentials. Remember to bless and not impress. Pray for your guest each day before they arrive. Serve the Lord with gladness and serve your guest with gladness too. You’ll be glad you did!
