Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Cranberries are such an awesome little fruit.  Packed full of good stuff.  I grew up eating the jellied variety of cranberries at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  There is nothing wrong with jellied cranberries, but then I came across a recipe and got homemade cranberry sauce and gave it my own spin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag fresh or frozen whole cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp (or so) vanilla
  • 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Cover and let simmer until all the berries pop (I love that…such an exciting little fruit!).
  4. After about 5-8 minutes of simmering, take the pan off the burner and let cool.
  5. Eat or refrigerate.  Serve hot or at room temperature.

May your Holiday meals fill and nourish your bodies the way the Word of the Lord fills your Spirit.
