Mission in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
When I think of the Christmas season, I want to make sure we give more than we receive. This Season we felt blessed because a team of 29 individuals from our church, Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Norfolk, VA, were able to go to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and build a church. This was our 25th one- week mission’s building trip.
The Team
The team consisted of more folks who were not in the construction field than who were in the construction field. If you did not know how to lay concrete block, you have to attend a class on how to do it and most of us had to go to the class.
In a one-week time period our team constructed a 25X90 foot building with a ceiling that was designed ultimately to become the floor for a second story that will be added in the future.
We worked hard, we laughed, and became closer to one another over the course of the week. What a great privilege to be able to accomplish such a mission. One gentleman said, "No one could pay me to come and work this hard for one week, yet I paid for this myself to work this hard."
Pastor Troy and Pastor Quallsstarted every morning with devotions
Nine hard working ladies were on the team.
Ron and myself hard at work.
Had some difficulties after a rain storm.
Walls up---ready for ceiling/floor to second story.
I-beam going into place.
Very appreciative Pastor of the church we were building.
The roof team.
Team members with a few folks that will worship at the new church.
This trip helped us to put into perspective the true meaning of Christmas and how Jesus came to us who are “unworthy” and sacrificed His life for us so we may live with Him in Eternity.
Happy Birthday, Jesus and Merry Christmas!
