Practically Romantic

Practically Romantic Guard your heart, have a good time, don’t get too serious, don’t take forever to get married…

Relationships come with a host of advanced do’s and don’ts, will’s and wont’s, helpful advice and even contradictory tips.  Now that I’m in a relationship with someone I’ve known since middle school, I’m starting this journey and sorting through what others say and what God says.

I am a pretty practical person.  I see lots of issues in black or white, right or wrong.  On the Meyers Briggs test, I’m a solid J for “Justice” and that means I can be pretty blind to some awesome shades of gray.

Like anything else, there are pluses and minuses here.  I am a planner (most practical people are) so when it comes to planning, organizing, or researching anything I’m your girl.

But when it comes to living in the moment and soaking it all in, I could use a little help.

I am often reminded of the Scripture in Matthew 6:34 that encourage believers to, “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes” (MSG)

This verse reminds me that moments are precious and they turn into memories.

In my relationship, everything is fresh, new, and exciting (which I love) and taking these moments to enjoy, learn, and grow as a person will benefit me and my relationship greatly.

Taking romance and relationships one step at a time may be hard for a planner like me, but it helps us capture every moment allowing you and others the ability to look back and see God’s hand in every situation you encounter.
