Carrie Neely
Hello Readers! My name is Carrie and I am originally from sunny California. I consider myself a creative person, always coming up with new inventions and ways to make life more enjoyable. One of my greatest loves is theater and the performing arts. After receiving my bachelors degree in Drama from San Diego State University, I married my wonderful husband Jeff and we have 2 beautiful sons Jeffrey, Jr. and Elijah. Jeff and I moved to the East Coast in 2002 and have been growing our family here in Virginia.
In order to help you identify with where I am coming from as a writer and as a woman, here are a few highlights and low lights from my past that have made me who I am today. My parents divorced when I was born and I never lived a single day with my biological father. I have an older brother and sister from that marriage. When I was young, my mother remarried to a great man, who I came to know as my “Dad”. He also had three children of his own from his first marriage. So, if you are familiar with TV trivia, that would make me the “Cindy Brady” of the bunch. Because my Dad was in the Navy, we moved around a lot and I became good at making friends wherever I went. Tragically, my step-father died when I was 15 years old and still in high school. Despite all of the “Daddy Drama” in my life, knowing that I had a Heavenly Father who would ALWAYS be with me has been a constant comfort to me.
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of 12 at a church youth retreat. All of my sisters accepted Christ at the same time. We prayed for salvation together while sitting on the floor in a circle with one of the youth leaders. It was a great experience. God has used me in many different ministries over the years and has blessed me with talents to glorify Him. I love to sing and have been involved in church praise teams, choirs, and traveling groups. During my college years I spent a semester at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas Texas and became a part of their theater program. I have also been the drama director for several church groups and schools across the U.S.
One of my other great loves in life has been working with children, not only as a mother, but as a home school, public, and private school teacher. The basic learning skills are so important to the foundation of a child’s future education. There are few greater rewards in life than teaching a child how to read, a skill that they will use everyday for the rest of their lives.
The Lord has recently given me a vision of how
all of my gifts can be used in one accord, with the development of a
performing arts children’s educational program. But, more on that
later.
For now, there are many things I want to accomplish, and many dreams I
hope to see come to fruition. I hope that as you read my articles, you
would be inspired with creativity of your own.
May God
Bless You Richly!
Carrie
